Born in Quebec City, Judith Papillon is an autodidact artist who paints in watercolour and acrylics. From early on she had a craving to experience new cultures and has traveled extensively around the world. At the age of 17, she spent 5 months in Europe touring every museum she could find including the Louvre, the Prado, and the Uffizi. She graduated Ottawa University with a B.A. in Translation and also received a Teaching Certificate from Concordia University in Montreal.
At the age of 27, she took 3 years off and and traveled the world completing this cycle twice. This round of traveling included the Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Greece where she was captivated by the light in Greece and the Outback in Australia.
In 1998, Papillon visited Andros and fell in love. She decided to establish roots. She built a home and became a teacher at North Andros High School where she taught Spanish for 10 years.

During these years on Andros, she became an active participant in all the artistic expressions on the island including painting, photography, crafts, junkanoo, theatre and literature. She organized an exhibit of black and white photography featuring 25 of her female students, choosing those who did not bleach their skin in an effort to show them their true and natural beauty.

Papillon has exhibited her work in Nassau, Abaco and Andros including The Bahamas National Trust Wine and Art Festival, Abaco's Art in the Parks and at the Harbourfront Lounge in Nassau. She will soon be showcased in a new Gallery in Lyford Cay scheduled to be opened in April 2012. Her artwork can be found in collections all over the world.
